GRILLED TUNA WITH WASABI BUTTER
4 tuna steaks (the loin cuts are
fabulous for this)
1/4 cup tamari
1/4 cup mirin
1 T brown sugar
2 T butter room temp.
2 tsp wasabi powder
1/2 tsp brown sugar
Get your grill going! If you’re using charcoal,
get a fairly hot fire ready.
Mix the tamari, mirin and brown sugar together. Marinate
the tuna for about 10 minutes at room temp or 1 hour in
the regrigerator. Remove from the marinade and brush with
vegetable oil.
Combine the butter, wasabi and brown sugar making a smooth
paste.
Grill the tuna. I like it medium rare, which means I grill
it for about two minutes on each side. Remove from the
grill to a platter and slather with the wasabi butter.
The butter gives the tuna a fantastic zip and lots of
flavor, and of course you can make it as zippy as you
want by adding more wasabi.
Last night I made mashed sweet potatoes with lime to go
with the wasabi tuna. Try this!
To your mashed garnet or jewel sweet potatoes (or a mixture
of both) add a little butter, salt and pepper, and freshly
squeezed lime juice. The combination of lime and wasabi
is GREAT!! |
